Even in these most beard-tolerating of times, all men can benefit from having a razor at their disposal. A clean shave is, of course, the task razors are best suited to. However razors are a diverse tool, fantastic for detailing and shaping facial hair, tidying up hairlines, and clearing away neck hair, amongst other things.
Clean shaving can be a daunting concept to many men who are afraid of getting razor bumps, a common issue caused by ingrown hairs brought on after shaving. But with proper preparation (involving exfoliation, prepping the hair, using a sharp, well-designed razor, and using the correct technique), there’s no reason you should be reticent when it comes to using a razor.
There are three key types of razor, and which one works best for you depends on a few factors that we’re going to cover in more detail below.
The Baxter of California Three-Blade Cartridge Razor comes with a lightweight, high-grade resin handle. Perfectly balanced, and using 3 blades a fixed angle, it is perfectly adapted both to creating shape and definition, and performing full-face shaves, without causing nicks and cuts.
The Wahl Cartridge Razor is a uniquely designed, hard-wearing razor with a balanced, chrome-finished handle. Using Mach 3 precision blades, its cartridges are easily replaceable and extremely effective.
The E-Shave Nickle Razor, available in a variety of colours, is made from high quality hand-turned Lucite. This lightweight material is perfect for giving you maximum control.
Bolin Webb have long been one of our favourite male grooming brands on Mankind. Its Men’s R1 Razor, available in a number of colours, is at the pinnacle of luxury shaving tools for men. Its unique design, featuring a bacteria resistant, ergonomically designed handle, is what sets it apart.
The Gentlemen’s Tonic Savile Row Razor is an iconic shaving tool that blends modern convenience with classic style. Its elegant Faux Horn Handle is exceptionally balanced and stylish.
Moving into our first safety razor, The Double Edged Razor from Men Rock is a fantastic entry level introduction to traditional shaving equipment. Its weighty handle, a better option for traditional razors, allows you to shave effectively and with control without having to apply pressure, which helps prevent cuts and nicks.
The Baxter of California DE Safety Razor is a classic design with a modern twist, housed in an elegant black box. Practical, stylish, and built to last, this is the perfect gift for a special occasion.
We love the Jack Black Double Edge Safety Razor, a modern take on the traditional safety razor, with a weighty handle that is easy to grip, and aids in achieving a precise shave.
The modern, ergonomic handle of the E-Shave Double Edge Razor using a blend of Cast Metals and Hand-Turned Lucite, makes it comfortable to hold, and a precise instrument with which to shave.
Last on our list of the best men’s razors is the Men Rock Cut Throat Shavette, a straight razor with interchangeable double edged blade. This means it’s a fantastic introduction to the tricky task of straight razor shaving, as you can always fall back on a similar but safer option if you’re having trouble.
