When you’re too old to go trick or treating and don’t feel up to going to a Halloween party, how do you celebrate? We prefer to sit and watch Halloween films which can never get old. However, the night is too short to watch everything, so we’ve put together a list of the best Halloween films to watch from old classics to new favourites.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

This classic Halloween film is the perfect transition film from Halloween to Christmas. Written by Tim Burton and directed by Henry Selick, this animated movie is one which everyone will love. Jack Skellington, the king of Halloweentown decides he is uninspired by Halloween and wants to try something new. When he accidentally ends up in Christmastown, he decides to try making his own version of Christmas.

Halloween

Directed by John Carpenter, Halloween is a slightly scarier Halloween film about murderer Michael Myers who escapes a mental hospital. Returning to his home town on Halloween night, he wants to kill again. Packed with jump scares, it plays on the fear of the unknown, making it the ultimate film to watch this October 31st.

Beetlejuice

Released in 1988, the Tim Burton film Beetlejuice has won several awards and if you’ve seen it, it’s not hard to see why. With eccentric characters and an engaging storyline, everyone can enjoy it, regardless of age. This film is also incredibly unique so you can be sure that you won’t have watched anything similar before.

The Addams Family

Most people have seen The Addams Family, and if you have you will most likely want to watch it again. If you haven’t seen it, Halloween is the perfect opportunity. About an eccentric family who are tricked by a con artist for their wealth, it features a strange collection of characters including Thing, a hand with a mind of its own which almost acts as the family pet.

Ghostbusters

This Halloween, why not watch Ghostbusters? From the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2 to the recent remake, there’s plenty of versions for you to watch. Whether you decide to watch the one from 1984 or 2016, you’ll enjoy this classic film regardless.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an iconic musical released in 1975. This film features a whole host of unconventional characters who bring a whole different meaning to time travel. Packed with well-known songs and creative costume, it keeps your imagination busy throughout the hours.

Annabelle Creation

Only released this year, Annabelle Creation is the latest in the Conjuring series. Telling the story of how the possessed doll Annabelle was created, it’s the perfect paranormal Halloween film. You can also watch it with the first two The Conjuring films and the first Annabelle movie to add a theme to the night.
