It’s almost the day of your flight and all that’s left to do is pack your hand luggage. It can be easy to forget the rules and regulations of hand luggage, which can result in your favourite grooming products being confiscated at the airport can’t it? That’s why our latest addition to the man bag edit is giving you a little refresher in what’s allowed and what may be taken away by the security chaps checking out your grooming goods at the gates.
Grooming Toiletries Guide
There’s nothing worse than taking a fresh tub of your go-to hair styling product to only have it taken away at security, ruining your hair for the entire holiday. So you know exactly what you can and cannot take in your hand luggage, simply remember that no liquids which exceed 100ml, including any of the below toiletries are allowed in your hand luggage.
Liquids in containers larger than 100ml generally can’t go through security either, even if the container is only part full. The only exception for this is if they are for essential medical purposes, special dietary requirements or contain baby food or baby milk.
- Sprays including shaving foam, hairspray and spray deodorants
- Pastes, including toothpaste
- Gels, including hair and shower gel
- Contact lens solution
- Creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, mascara and lip gloss
- Any other solutions and items of a similar consistency
Once you’ve decided which products to take, you must place them all inside a single, transparent, resealable plastic bag. Remember that the bag must measure approximately 20cm x 20cm and hold no more than 1 litre of liquids. Make sure that they fit comfortably inside the bag so you can seal it securely. You’re only allowed one bag per person, so make sure you choose your grooming products wisely! Try and save room by choosing multi-use products and decanting them in to smaller bottles for the journey.
