Alpha-H Ingredients

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) are one of the safest methods of skin renewal.  Their effectiveness depends on the type and concentration of the AHA, its pH (acidity), and other ingredients in the product. AHAs become effective at concentrations between 7% - 8% with a pH of 3.5 to 4.0. Many cosmetic products containing AHA have very little skin renewal effects because the AHA concentrations are too low and the pH is too high. There is little evidence that concentrations below 5% have beneficial actions on the skin.

Chemical peels with stronger AHA’s (40-70%) speed the process, but skin rebuilding induced by a 70% AHA chemical peel, in 3 months can be duplicated by a 7% AHA cream in 9 months.

The amounts of AHA in Alpha-H vary depending on the individual product. They  range from 7%-15%, with our professional salon treatments up to 30%.

All Alpha-H products comply with the Therapeautic Goods Authority (TGA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines, giving you peace of mind.

Your skin is in good hands with Alpha-H

Has your skin had its vitamins today?

In the high-stakes game of quality skincare, Alpha-H has an ACE up its sleeve - a formidable winning hand of powerful antioxidants: Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. For the first time, Alpha-H has packaged together these essential vitamins to create the simplest, but most powerful skincare product on the market today. Alpha-H call it ACE! No tricks. No bluffs. It’s as simple as taking your vitamins - A, C and E. Dermatologists and skincare professionals have long known the importance Vitamins A, C and E play in good skin health. These vitamins are widely used in a range of skincare products at different concentrations, in different forms, and under confusing names. Now Alpha-H has taken the gamble out of the vitamin game with ACE, a simple vitamin therapy kit that contains pure serums of Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. With no unnecessary ingredients to water-down and complicate the product, Alpha-H’s ACE is the easiest, most effective, and best value-for-money treatment available. We all know that a healthy diet, one rich in vitamins and nutrients, is the best defense we have against illness, disease, and pre-mature ageing. The body’s largest organ, the skin, is no different. Without the right balance of vitamins, skin becomes, dry, sluggish and susceptible to a number of disorders. ACE stacks the deck in our skin’s favour, by delivering vitamins back to where they belong.

So what’s so great about Vitamins A, C and E?
Vitamin A is found in nutritious foods such as sweet potatoes, spinach, apricots and liver, and plays an essential role in night vision, bone growth, reproduction and the health of skin. Skin suffering from Vitamin A deficiency falls prey to photo damage, destruction of collagen and elastin, resulting in dry, ageing skin. By boosting Vitamin A levels, the rate of skin turnover is increased and collagen production promoted, giving a more supple, youthful appearance to the skin.

Vitamin C is essential to our very survival, however it is a vitamin we are unable to produce ourselves. Therefore we must re-introduce the vitamin to our bodies regularly through fresh fruit and vegetables, certain meats or in supplement form. Vitamin C is needed for the production of collagen, the essential building block of skin. Collagen fibres riddle our bodies, providing firm but flexible structure, and their health is one of the most important factors in determining the appearance and integrity of our skin.

Vitamin E is a powerful anti-oxidant that protects cell membranes and other fat-soluble parts of the body, such as the heart and skin from free radical damage Vitamin E helps promote clear and flexible blood vessels that allow the passage of oxygen-rich blood to the heart and throughout the body - especially to the skin. Vitamin E protects the skin from sun damage, reduces the appearance of fine lines and generally improves skin smoothness.
Alpha-H is dedicated to delivering skincare solutions and visible results - not empty promises. Having suffered with problematic skin in her teens and twenties, Michelle Doherty Director of Alpha-H, spent many years experimenting with big name brands and the latest “buzz word” ingredients. Nothing worked. However, life changed when she was introduced to Alpha-H and in just four short days there was a significant, visible improvement in her complexion. Alpha-H had accomplished in less than a week what she’d spent years trying to achieve… Now, Clear Skin, the latest addition to the Alpha-H range is here to address the needs of problematic, acne-prone skin.

What can we expect from the new Clear Skin range of products?

Everyone at Alpha-H is very excited about this range. We believe that these targeted acne treatments offer unparalleled results on problematic skin of all ages – delivering instant benefits and improving the skincare quality of life for people who are struggling with persistent breakouts...

What was your inspiration for the Clear Skin range of anti-acne products?

Clear Skin is all about offering customers visible results, simplicity, and a more natural approach to treating acne. This led to us using a variety of powerful natural antibacterial ingredients, as we feel many of the other acne products on the market are overly aggressive. Clear Skin takes a very different approach. By treating the problem holistically we can normalise the over activity in the sebaceous glands, but we do it in a more gentle, progressive way...

How did you know which ingredients to use in the products and what is the most effective way to treat acne?

The biggest challenge for people plagued with acne is that they start off with a new skincare regime, but then give up unless they see an immediate improvement. This leads them to swap and change products constantly, which just leaves the skin even more confused and distressed. The most effective way to treat the problem is to work with complementary ingredients which sanitise the pores and dislodge impurities and bacteria within the follicle. We use Salicylic Acid, derived from Willowbark, to do this and Vitamin B3 to normalise the oil flow so the problem doesn’t keep recurring.

What factors do you think can aggravate acne prone skin?

Stress and its role in problematic skin is very underestimated… Stress stimulates the hormones responsible for androgenic activity in the body - and this in turn stimulates the sebaceous gland to produce unnecessary quantities of oil. High sugar diets can also contribute to the creation of overzealous oil glands.

Can Alpha-H’s Clear Skin products work for everyone at any age?

The range is absolutely designed to target problem skin of all ages and the products are unisex. They’re also incredibly easy to use so if you’re a busy person they won’t infringe on your lifestyle. Just put your other products aside for a few weeks and introduce these three simple steps into your daily routine and we promise you won’t be disappointed.

In addition to using the Clear Skin range, what can people do with regard to their diet and general health to improve their complexion?

I know it’s easy to say but… try to reduce your sugar intake, exercise more regularly and find ways to manage your stress levels if you can. Even something as simple as drinking a glass of warm water every morning with a squeeze of fresh lemon can be beneficial as it helps the body to eliminate toxins.

What is your one must-have / go-to product?

Right now it’s the Clear Skin Daily Face Wash! Formulated with Australian Eucalyptus and Wild Thyme it enlivens the senses whilst leaving skin bright, smooth and super clean morning and night!

Finally, can you give us an insight into what other new products you’re working on?

I don’t want to give too much away yet, but we’ll be launching a brand new way to exfoliate your skin. A gentle daily exfoliant which uses water-activated crushed fruit enzymes to give your skin a one minute power facial every morning!! Watch this space...
