If there’s one thing we’re sure everyone applies when it comes to skincare, it has to be a face moisturiser. It’s the first thing most guys get introduced to, and it’s possibly one of the easiest to apply. Assuming you’ve cleansed and toned, a face cream is the perfect final step.
Face moisturisers come in all shapes and sizes. They have different textures, benefits and scents. Once you’ve figured out which one is for you, it’s worth making sure you’re applying it properly. If you don’t apply face cream in the right way, it can leave your skin looking shiny and a bit oily. Our latest video shows you the best way to apply it.
You should be pretty clued up on how to apply your moisturiser after watching our video. However if you’re looking for more information, we’ve broken it down further below.
Do you know your skin type? Determining whether your skin is dry, oily or combination is the first step in choosing the right face cream. If your skin is oily, there’s nothing worse than adding a face cream that’s rich in natural oils, as there’s a high chance it’ll cause your skin to break out. Pick a moisturiser that has a lighter texture, and potentially matiffying qualities. If your skin is on the drier side, you’re going to need to look out for more heavy and rich textures. Skincare products packed full of essential oils and butters will work wonders on your skin.
When applying your face cream, make sure you start from the centre of your face. This is the area that either tends to be the oilest or driest, so once you’ve determined your skin type and cream of choice, this is the place to start. Pat the product across the skin to dispense it equally, moving across the cheeks, followed by the forehead, neck and ears. Massage the product into the skin in circular motions, always ensuring you’re lifting the skin and never pulling it down. Most people tend to forget that you can moisturise in your facial hair, so if you’re rocking stubble, remember the skin underneath needs nourishment too.

The slicked back look is a good choice for formal occasions or to finish off a smart-casual look with a hint of class. However, it can be difficult to get your hair to stay back without looking greasy and stuck to your scalp.
