What is Inulin?
Inulin is a starchy carbohydrate found in pulses, predominantly lentils and chickpeas. This amazing fibre has recently been featured on the BBC’s programme with Angela Rippon, ‘How To Stay Young’.
Benefits on Inulin
Inulin offers a range of health benefits. Considered a prebiotic, Inulin is a carbohydrate that good bacteria in your digestive system utilises to produce a number of nutrients which are beneficial towards human health.
How can Inulin be used?
Inulin is also used in baking to preserve the moisture in cakes and biscuits, but also as a binding agent. Inulin can also be used as syrup, by mixing it with water and heating. Finally, this versatile fibre can be used in smoothies to make them thicker and more satiating.
