Fashion Insight: Coggles Take to LCM 2016

When it comes to male grooming, don’t get us wrong, we know our hair pomade from our beard balm, but when it comes to fashion? That’s where we sometimes need to enlist the assistance of those in-the-know, such as our friends over at Coggles. This week the Coggles team hit the streets of London to scout out the best style and trends from London Collections Men (or #LCM as you may have seen over on Twitter) to report back about all the fashion findings they have found for AW16.

First things first though, what is LCM?

LCM (London Collections Men) is designed to showcase the best of British fashion talent. Featuring everything from emerging designers ready to dominate the fashion world, to Savile Row tailors with their quintessentially British heritage; LCM has bought British men’s fashion to life since 2012. Organised by the British Fashion Council, this is the men’s only answer to London Fashion Week, described by some as the ‘edgier’ younger brother of the more infamous style event. With more men than ever investing in quality, homegrown fashion, LCM gives insight and inspiration to a worldwide audience, right from the UK’s capital.

Styling Highlights from LCM 2016

With so many stylish happenings going on, it is extremely difficult to narrow the street style highlights down to just a few – but hey, we like a challenge here at Mankind. Clean cut grooming appeared to reign supreme both on and off the catwalks. Tinie Tempah (above, shot by Andrew Barber) went for a timeless style, sticking to black and dark grey layers. Finishing his look with a pair of sleek sunglasses, a look which shows how style doesn’t have to be complicated to achieve a refined and effortless appearance.

It wasn’t just Tinie Tempah who opted for ‘all black e’rything‘ with street stylers galore reaching for darker colours and layering garments like it was, well… going out of fashion. Once again, captured by photographer Andrew Barber for Coggles, we see different takes on the classic layered look in the above images. The gentleman on the right has chosen to mix textures and shapes to create a casual and comfortable outfit, adding a leather jacket to give a rugged edge. In a contrast, the chap on the right has chosen to incorporate bold patterns alongside a relaxed fit T-Shirt, finished to perfection with a deep blue pea coat. Despite the grey skies, sunglasses were a notable accessory for the occasion across the board.

Finally, our favourite street style spot was from the brown and beige hues featured above. Adding a complimentary sky blue shirt to contrast the brown corduroy three piece suit, this entire look brings a sophisticated style down to earth. The textures on display create a more casual style to an otherwise tailored outfit, with a coat draped over the shoulders to bring the entire ensemble together. We also love the sneaky glimpse of a mustard yellow sock peeping out from the deep burgundy monk strap shoes. LCM Outfit = Nailed.
