An optional djay app allows you to mix and scratch your iPhone music on the rotatable dock atop the system.
MAX Sound technology boosts the bass of your music to maximise volume performance and create an ideal listening experience with the simple push of a button. The sophisticated technology calibrates existing sound and volume settings to boost bass and volume to the highest levels, with no distortion. All this results in an amplified sound spectrum which adds volume and powerful bass boost to all your music.
Treble and bass control the high and low frequency sound levels of your audio. Using the up and down keys on the speaker system enables listeners to place more emphasis of the high treble tones or low bass tones, allowing you to fine tune the audio to the way you enjoy it.

The Philips boombox is absolutely amazing.
A good party machine for garden- or garage parties.
Mids are not really there, it's more a base / high tone experience.
The enclosure is not this stiff and you can hear the blanks resonating.
Just unmounted the rear amplifier module, and push some foam between the boards on the left and right side, then the Sound is much clearer then.
Also add some damping wool in small portions through the vent holes in the front. Best way to do this is to use a flexible hose. This brings the boombox to the next sound level.
You can even mod the tweeters ... but this goes to far for now and this review.
All in all a nice machine, good Radio and acceptable built. I had the JVC boombox before, and I clearly prefer the Philips combined with my old iPod touch 1. gen.
We also played with a Keyboard over the boombox, and it was fine for a small concert with our 3 man band in a Little church (next to acoustic guitar and non amplified voice)
So go ahead and get one as long it is available.
