Moisturise
Your skin’s requirements are going to change with the seasons and so should your products. Most guys will need a lighter moisturiser for the summertime - preferably one with a ‘built-in’ SPF to save you the hassle of mixing products and lugging around too many bottles. Lab Series For Men Daily Moisture Defense Lotion SPF15 or Anthony Oil Free Facial Lotion SPF15 are both great products to begin with and, if it turns out you do need more protection (an SPF15 really is the minimum) then mix in Dermalogica’s Solar Defence Booster SPF30. Guys with chronically dry skin, however, should check out an emollient like Dermalogica’s Extra Rich Face Block.

Sunblock
Don’t reach for last year’s stash of sunblock! Products spoil just like food and chances are the sunblock that got you through last summer isn’t going to be as potent 12 months later. Always remember to always check the ‘Use By’ date of everything you buy.

While the mostursiers/SPF above should suffice for the city, something like Dermalogica’s WaterBlock Solar Spray is ideal for the beach as it will resist swimming, bodyboarding or any other spurious watersports you intend to try out on the beach.

Tanning
If you’re after a really deep tan this summer there are two sorts of products you should consider:
1) A self-tanner like Anthony Self Tanner with Anti-Ageing Complex will give you a healthy base tan to start the season with. Try it out for two weeks before you leave to give you a bit of colour before you officially start tanning.
2) An accelerator like Gatineau Tan Accelerator does exactly what it says on the tin: it helps prolong your hard-earned tan by boosting your natural supply of menalin.

Haircare
Decided to chop your barnet off for the summer?
If you’re showing any scalp at all, you’re going to need to protect it with an SPF just as you would your face. HeadBlade Sunscreen SPF15 is suitable for guys who are going completely ‘skin’ this season while Lab Series Nutriplexx Hair and Scalp Protector SPF8 is better for guys who’ve simply decided to go a couple of grades shorter.

If your hair has turned into brittle hay in the sunshine then Phyto 9 Moisturiser should sort it out along with a premium conditioner like Korres Acacia Milk Conditioner.
