Overall were you impressed with the console on a technical level?
James: It's amazing, the 3D effect makes it so addictive. Seriously impressed with the augmented reality and StreetPass which is cool.
Stu: Absolutely, the 3D vision took a little while to get used to, but once you did it was really great. The console allows you lots of functionality with Mii characters, different buttons, key combinations and 3D settings.

Which game did you like the most and why?
James: I've play played Zelda on the old DS and I can tell you it's so much better in 3D. If you are a Zelda fan you will love playing it on the 3ds.
Stu: I enjoyed Pilot Wings most with the ability to fly in a plane, hand glider and jet-pack. I also liked unlocking new levels and I found it quicker and easier to pick-up than Zelda. Zelda was good but I’m more of a short mission player, so I found learning all the skills for Zelda before commencing the challenges a bit tedious.

Did you use the console online? If so, did you find it easy to set up?
James: Was easy enough to setup and I like the friends list, it's easy to use.
Stu: I did use it online, however I did find it a little confusing to set-up. It gives you two options to connect to the internet and after a few attempts I found that neither of these options worked for me, so I tried the ‘Help’ option and it found my internet connection almost immediately, so that would be my tip to most people, just use the help option.

Could you see yourself using the console on a long journey?
James: I could yeah but the battery life is not as good as it could be so would need some way of charging it or using a second battery.
Stu: Definitely, I’m going away this weekend and plan to take this with me to use on the train, it will really help to pass the time and the battery life seems pretty good.

Downloadable 3D movies will be available soon for the 3DS. Could you see yourself watching one?
James: Nice idea but would like a bigger screen to watch films on.
Stu: I think this will be a brilliant feature and something I would definitely use on journeys, can’t wait to try it! As long as it’s not too expensive, this is something I could use regularly.

Did you know that you can import Mii characters from your Nintendo Wii? Did you do this? If so, how easy was it?
James: Yeah I did. Don't have a Wii though.
Stu: No, I didn’t know this but I tried it once I found out and it was pretty simple to do.

The 3DS has a brand new circular control nub instead of the traditional 4-direction pad. How did you find this? Better or worse than the old cross pad?
James: Loved it, you have far more control much better than the old one.
Stu: I actually used to have the original Nintendo DS and I think the circular control nub is much easier to use and allows you greater control of the game and your characters movements.

Did you know that the console is fully compatible with Nintendo DS software? Did you use this feature? Do you think it’s important?
James: Nice to know my old games aren't wasted. Would be great if they had an exchange program for upgrading to 3d games.
Stu: No, again I didn’t know this feature until I read the review questions, but since trying it I think it’s great, a really handy function to have for all my old DS games.

Did you take any pictures using the 3D camera feature? What did you think of the results?
James: So cool but not so good in low light. Also it's annoying that you can't print them in 3d.
Stu: Yes, I tried this feature and it’s really good. You need to be in a well-light area as there’s no flash, but the 3D picture you get is really unusual. I didn’t try the graffiti tools etc, but I think being able to take photo’s in 3D is great.

What did you think of the Augmented Reality software that came built into the unit?
James: I liked it but can sometimes be a little hit and miss. You need a background that has a good amount of contrast for it to work best. Blank walls are no good.
Stu: I tried this feature and I think it’s great for perhaps the younger gaming market. It was good to be able to include the background of where you are sitting in the gameplay, but I found the games themselves a little simple. Really intriguing idea though.
