Uppercut Deluxe

Hailing from the Land Down Under, but with style and inspiration from the barbershops of the California coast, Uppercut Deluxe offers 1950s style for the 21st century man.

At a time when barbering was somewhat unappreciated in Australia, Uppercut’s founders Luke and Steve developed a growing passion for the industry, and decided to fight for its presence in everyday life. Quality products were scarce, male grooming was often ignored, and interest in a traditional barbering set-up was minimal.

Wondering how to break into a dwindling industry, the duo took inspiration from the traditional barbershops of the West Coast of the US. After a rewarding year of research and experimenting, their famous Deluxe pomade was born, and the brand has since built up to become a huge global presence.

And what about the brand name? Well, the guys were inspired by Newman’s grandfather, boxer Willy ‘Uppercut’ OShea, who worked hard to achieve recognition and success in his trade despite a difficult upbringing. Willy always said that “a hard beginning maketh a good ending”, a motto that resonates with the boys and reflects their progress from inspired dreamers to worldwide grooming icons.

Major fan of scented candles, Make Up brushes and Highlighter. I’m always on the hunt for those Holy Grail products and my dressing table is covered in more beauty products than I like to admit. As an adopted Northerner originally from Brighton, I spend most my days wondering what all this rain is about. My hair isn’t grateful for the move. Currently loving: NIOD Photography Fluid
