Lesson 13: Fight Fatigue

Here’s a simple tip for whenever your skin is looking dull, Tired or grey: exfoliate! Not only does the very act of using a face scrub invigorate your skin, making you feel more energized, it can dramatically affect the way it looks too. That’s because skin that’s tired-looking is often littered with dead cells which scatter the light that hits them in all directions. If skin is free of these cells though, light is absorbed evenly improving your skin’s overall appearance. So whenever your skin needs a bit of a pep talk try a product like Aesop Purifying Facial Exfoliating Paste or Lab Series for Men Invigorating Face Scrub or use twice weekly to keep skin looking A1.

Given that one of men’s biggest grooming concerns is looking tired it’s no surprise that plenty of products exist to target fatigue.

Targeted Skin Routine

To create your own turbo-charged grooming routine start with REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser which contains stimulating French Clay and restorative vitamins to freshen skin and rid it of impurities, then follow up with REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. A fast-acting ‘flash mask’ it takes a mere five minutes to recharge skin, remove dead cells and improve its overall appearance.

Then complete your three-step programme with REN Sirtuin Phytohormone Replenishment Cream. The Daddy of the range it’s a power-packed, restorative moisturiser containing a raft of vitamins that leaves skin looking and feeling noticeably different (and you looking half human again!).

With some of the thinnest skin on the body surrounding them, eyes are often one of the first areas to show signs of fatigue. The solution? An eye rescue product like the Perricone MD Brightening Eye Cream or Elemis TFM Anti-Fatigue Eye Gel . An ultra light eye treatment containing Shea Butter and Caffeine, its the perfect tonic for tired eyes and is great at tackling dark circles too. What’s more, its rollerball delivery system has an instant refreshing action. Just remember, though, when it comes to using eye products less is always more!

Sometimes you just need an instant fix for those annoying dark circles (especially if they’re the result of a late night and an excess of beer) and that’s where a good concealer comes in. Menaji’s Camo Camouflage Stick (Medium) is what politicians, actors and TV personalities use to disguise the tell-tale signs of fatigue and nothing works faster on under eye circles. Just dab a little under the eye with your ring finger and gently blend into the surrounding skin. For more tips on getting great results form concealers click here.

Use a Bronzer

One of the easiest and most effective ways to perk up tired, pasty-looking skin is to use one of today’s high-performance bronzers. Especially easy to use is FreezeFrame Youth Minerals which you just brush across skin to give an instant, natural-looking tan. It’s much easier to use than many tinted moisturisers and the results tend to be more controllable too. Or, if you want a subtler effect, try Hylamide HA Blur Face Serum. Flying off the shelves on its launch it’s a skin improver that acts a bit like an airbrush, improving the all-round appearance of your skin.

It’s all very well looking great but what if you don’t feel that way? Whether your tiredness is the result of overwork, over-exercise over indulgence down the local you can give your body a much needed boost with the help of a supplement like the Fountain Energy Molecule, which has been specially formulated, with natural ingredients to give you a mental as well as physical boost.

You’ve fought off fatigue, now it’s time for the ultimate skin detox! Check out Lesson 14: Ultimate Skin Detox.
